Social Development Initiatives in Malitbog, Bukidnon
TORM Philippines Education Foundation has planned another social development activity at the Sumalsag Elementary School in Malitbog, Bukidnon.
Water Access in School
TORM Philippines Education Foundation donated materials for the installation of water system in Sumalsag Elementary School in Malitbog, Bukidnon. The installation was completed last August 30, 2021, through a community participation under the “Brigada Eskwela” program of the Department of Education.
This project aimed to provide the school with access to clean drinking water and hand washing as part of the implementation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in school (WinS). The school committed to engage the WinS functionality amidst covid, hence they prioritized this project, especially that face-to-face classes may resume gradually.
In addition, hot and cold-water dispensers were provided per classroom to accommodate the entire learner population and the teachers in the easy access to drinking water. This is beneficial to their health and well-being.
Building A School Gate for Security
Building materials to be used for the construction of the school gate were also provided for keeping the institution safe and ensuring safety of all the teachers and learners and the entire school property at the same time. Sumalsag Elementary School has just been shifted to a new site and is currently unsafe owing to the fact that anyone can enter and exit the school premises. Some of the residents also used the school ground as pasture for their animals and even left manure on the ground. Having a proper school gate just adds up to our efforts of ensuring good quality education in a beautiful school.
This project aims to benefit 120 learners (65F; 55M) and six teachers.
