Laying the Groundwork for Safer Learning
Through sustained support under the Adopt-a-School Program, TPEF is helping children learn safely, even in challenging island conditions.
TORM Philippines Education Foundation, Inc. (TPEF) held a groundbreaking ceremony for a one-storey disaster-resilient classroom for Jagoliao Elementary School in the island barangay of Jagoliao, Getafe, Bohol.

The activity also included the donation of rain boots and Christmas gifts to learners, teachers, and community partners. The rain boots will help protect learners who often wade through seawater during high tide to reach school.

Jagoliao Elementary School serves one of the most remote communities in Getafe, where limited access to basic services continues to affect education. This initiative is a milestone under TPEF’s Adopt-a-School Program. In 2021 and 2022, TPEF supported the school through solar panels and solar lamps for all learners to help address the community’s ongoing lack of electricity.
Construction is scheduled for early 2026, with support from the Department of Education, the Municipality of Getafe, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The ceremony was attended by Allan Dan Jensen, Head of Marine HR, and Grinnabelle Duran, President of TORM Philippines.
TPEF thanks the volunteers from the Cebu and Makati offices, and all donors and partners whose support made this initiative possible.
