TPEF Scholars Share Their Talents, Their Hearts

In its annual practice of holding a community outreach project, the Luzon-based scholars—the group selected by TPEF scholars to spearhead the 2017 COP—visited a day care center in Sitio Dalawang Kawayan, Tanay, Rizal on December 20. Eight young men and women scholars, with TPEF personnel, repainted the learning center, transforming it from plain white room to colorful animals, trees, and flowers-themed learning space.

While some volunteer scholars finished off the painting, others organized the distribution of school kits and goodies to 20 kids. They provided the center with learning materials such as story books, educational toys, cleaning materials like trash cans, brooms, dustpan, cans of paints, as well as electric fans, light bulb, and others.

The current and alumni scholars, and other individuals contributed to generate funds for the outreach activity. One scholar even asked her neighbors to donate their toys for the day care center kids. Some people and scholars still made pledges even after the outreach, which the group decided to buy plywood sheets for the center’s ceiling. The outreach project hopes to make the day care center more conducive to learning.
