Creating Safer Learning Spaces and New Opportunities in Zamboanga del Sur

Education received a meaningful boost at Tigbao National High School in Zamboanga del Sur through the turnover of essential school resources and the conduct of scholarship selection activities aimed at supporting learners in rural communities.

To help improve the school’s learning environment, TPEF donated 20 units of solar lights, 100 plastic chairs, and assorted construction materials. The solar lights enhance campus safety and visibility, particularly during early morning and late-afternoon school activities, while the additional chairs provide a more conducive learning environment for learners. The construction materials will support the completion of the school’s pathway, making movement within the campus safer and more accessible for both learners and teachers.

The turnover activity was attended by key officials from the Department of Education (DepEd) Division and District Offices, as well as representatives from the local government unit (LGU). Through these donations, a total of 575 learners and 24 teachers directly benefited.

Alongside the turnover, the TORM Philippines Education Foundation (TPEF) conducted the Scholarship Selection for Academic Year 2026 under its Rural Community category. A total of 40 applicants participated in the qualifying examination, with successful candidates proceeding to the interview stage. The final list of scholarship awardees will be announced in March.

By investing in both educational resources and scholarship opportunities, TPEF continues to strengthen learning environments, improve access to education, and empower young people to pursue their aspirations. Through initiatives such as these, the Foundation remains committed to creating lasting impact in rural communities and helping build brighter futures through education.
