TPEF Provides Flood Relief to TORM Crew and Asturias Community

The relief effort reflects the strength of our shared commitment, supporting recovery with practical aid and meaningful solidarity.

Following the widespread flooding caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi (locally known as Typhoon Tino), TORM Philippines quickly mobilized to support affected crew and communities in Cebu and nearby areas.

As part of the immediate response, TPEF provided Php 10,000 gift checks to 39 TORM crew members whose homes were inundated and severely damaged. The gift checks allowed recipients to address their utmost urgent needs, whether for food, repairs, or other essentials.

It also extended support to Barangay Kaluangan in Asturias, Cebu, where severe flooding washed out homes along the riverbank. Around 50 households were displaced and relocated to a school on higher ground, leaving families without basic household items and in urgent need of assistance. To help families rebuild and restore stability, TPEF delivered beds, rechargeable fans, solar flood lights, water tanks, and construction materials, supporting both immediate living needs and basic comfort, especially in the absence of electricity and secure shelter.

Residents shared that TPEF was among the first organizations to reach the area, a significant effort given Barangay Kaluangan’s remote upland location and limited road access. With support from the local government, especially the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) of Asturias, the donated items were delivered safely and efficiently to affected families.

TPEF thanks TORM colleagues in the Philippines and the United Kingdom, TEC-CSR, individual donors, and TORM Philippines teams for their fundraising efforts, along with the volunteers in Makati and Cebu who helped make this response possible. As “One TORM”, we continue to stand with communities in times of crisis, restoring dignity, rebuilding hope, and reminding those affected that they are not alone.
