Two Women Scholars in “Rainforestation” Study
Nelly Flor Cabus and Daniela Krezzel Naparate, TPEF scholars, are among the six students of Visayas State University (VSU) who are currently conducting their respective thesis inclined with Rainforestation Project of the VSU in partnership with Yale University.
Scholars measure the plants as part of their study.
Ms. Cabus’ study is about the “Influence of Leaf Litters Addition on the Abundance of Mycorrhizae and Growth Performance of Dipterocarp Species” and Ms. Naparate’s is on the “Impact of Leaf Litters Application on the Soil Carbon and Growth Performance of Early Successional Species Planted in Marginal Uplands in Sitio Batuan, Barangay Linao, Inopacan, Leyte.”
Both scholars are “Yolanda” survivors from Salcedo, Eastern Samar. They are currently on their fourth year in Environmental Management course at VSU.
