Sports in Education—TPEF’s Another Development Initiative
TPEF realizes the vital role of sports and physical education in the development of the learners, especially in far flung schools like the Upper Yunot extension where it lacks school sports facility.
On March 29, the team formally turned over the newly constructed basketball goal, some sports materials including taekwondo punching bag, balls for basketball and volleyball, and shuttlecocks to the students and teachers of San Roque National High School (SRNHS) – Upper Yunot Extension.
Learners and parents gather during the turn-over ceremony.
The SRNHS Main School Principal Juanita Gadon and extension school Teacher-in-Charge Haydee Sarmiento were very grateful to the assistance provided to the school. Ms. Sarmiento said that the sports equipment is of great help especially with the learners’ athletic competitions in taekwondo, volleyball and badminton. On the day of the turn-over, students were very excited in playing basketball and volleyball. The project benefited 81 Grades 7 to 10 learners. It was funded by some employees of Torm Denmark, as part of its Christmas donation initiative.
