Scholars’ Development Updates for Mid-Year 2019

Promotions
A total of five (5) alumni scholars were promoted in their seafaring career. Deck cadets John Ernie Ibo of Bo. Luz, Cebu City and Khamim Ilupa, of Iligan City, Lanao, Del Norte and John Kevin Salcedo of Pili, Camarines Sur were recently promoted to 3rd Mate position. At present, Ibo and Salcedo undergo trainings for the said position; Ilupa is on board Torm vessel. Engine cadets Jackson Sarmiento of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and Paul John Ponciano of Naga City, Camarines Sur were promoted to 4th Engineer; 4th Engineers Jay Heart De los Reyes of Sta. Maria, Davao del Sur and Allyson Agustin, of Banaue, Ifugao, to 3rd Engineer; and 3rd Mate Justin Juanata of Calamba, Laguna to 2nd Mate position.

Licensure Passers
Joel Besandre of Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay who recently earned his degree in Marine Transportation and Julius Mark Gabon of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, passed the Officer-In-Charge of Navigational Watch (OIC-NW) Examination.

Shekina Loraine Viloria of Tuao, Cagayan Valley passed the May 2019 Certified Public Accountant Board Examination. Dindo Petallo from Del Carmen, Siargao Island, a LET passer, also passed the Schools Division of Siargao examination for the 2019 Registry of Qualified Applicants for Junior High School, ranking 5th in the Biological Science area of specialization. He now awaits his school assignment in Siargao Island. Kim Airra Datinguinoo of Tingloy, Batangas, passed the Registered Electrical Engineer Board Exam held in April 2019.

Graduates
Around 23 scholars or 13 women and 10 men graduated from their respective universities during the first half of 2019.

Rowejoy Flores, of Mondragon, Northern Samar, earned her bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation after completing her one-year cadetship in a local shipping company.

Ten (10) chose the field of education. Gladys Marok, of Sadanga, Mountain Province graduated in Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Major in English. Three scholars are from Kabugao in Apayao province — Ronaly Andanan with a Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) degree Major in Pre-School Education, Loui Daguio, Bachelor in Technical Teacher Education Major in Electronics Technology and Raven Ventura, BSEd Major in Social Science. Six (6) scholars of Daram Island, Western Samar earned their degrees namely Novalyn Abasula, Gladys Lozano, Wynell Salentes, Jaykee Tiquillo and Carmelito Danday, all with BSEd Major in Mathematics, and Angelica Dacallos, with elementary education degree. Novalyn Abasula also graduated cum laude in Samar State University.

Six (6) scholars graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. Jasmin Gayo, of Salcedo, Eastern Samar and Christopher Nick Casimiro of Marikina City earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Jose Jay Barrios, of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and Kim Airra Datinguinoo, of Tingloy, Batangas, graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Datinguinoo majored in renewable resources design. Wayne Tabanera of Makato, Aklan, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and Hazel Calamungay of Tagum City, Davao Del Norte, with BS in Agricultural Engineering.

Ma. Fatima Nebrida of Salcedo in Eastern Samar and Leister Jansen Lim of Quezon City
graduated with BS in Accountancy degree.

Jobelle Clarisse Montais, of Nabua, Camarines Sur earned her degree in Economics, Jamaella Elisse Santos of Bustos, Bulacan, in Pharmacy and Crystel Abegail Lee of Dinalupihan, Bataan, in Travel Management.
