DSWD Awards TPEF’s Certificate of Registration

The Torm Philippines Education Foundation (TPEF) is now registered with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as an Auxiliary Social Welfare and Development Agency (SWDA), particularly as a Resource Agency, and included in the registry of social welfare and development agencies. The awarding ceremony was held on April 18, 2016 at the DSWD Central Office, Batasan Complex, Quezon City attended by the agency officials and personnel.

In implementing the foundation’s programs, TPEF builds partnership with government units, public schools and non-government organizations such as CERD (Center for Empowerment & Resource Development-Surigao Del Sur, Northern and Eastern Samar programs), SIKAT (Sentro para sa Ikauunlad ng Katutubong Agham at Teknolohiya-Siargao Island program/Center for the Development of Indigenous Science and Technology, Inc.), SPARC Dev., Inc. (Surigao del Sur Program to Accelerate Resource for Community Development, Inc.), Assistance and Cooperation for Community Resilience and Development, Inc. (ACCORD).

“We appreciate your contribution to the social welfare and development programs and services in serving the disadvantaged sectors”, as stated by Standards Bureau Director Marites Maristela.

The three-year registration authorizes TPEF in providing educational support through its three programs—scholarship grant, scholars’ development, and other social development initiatives—for the benefit of marginalized children and youth in regions I, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI, CAR, CARAGA and NCR.

The DSWD is the mandated government agency regulating the practice of social welfare and development agencies (NGOs, foundations and other charitable institutions and others) in the delivery of social welfare and development programs or activities to marginalized sectors.
