As part of the Scholars’ Development Program (SDP) of TORM Philippines Education Foundation, monthly practical online talk was organized to maintain and enhance the continuity of learning of TPEF’s current scholars.
Prioritizing the talk on Mental Health and Wellness
The first talk provided to the scholars was about Mental Health and Wellness: Self-Care towards a Meaningful Pandemic Experience on June 5, 2021. The talk was facilitated by Mr. Ralph Jayson Pallon, MP, RPm, RPsy, CSIOP from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
The talk discussed on what is mental health and its state of well-being followed by a mental health “check in” to know about the current mental state of the scholars. Online exercises were provided, and everyone were actively participating.
Self-Care tips and simple self-care related activities were highlighted that will help improve the overall health and well-being of the participants.
Inspiration from the President
Overall, the talk was very insightful. Equally inspiring also was the message of the President, Ms. Grinnabelle Duran, where most of the scholars just met her virtually. Ms. Duran stressed the importance of discussions about mental health awareness and self-care. She added in sharing her college days as a scholar and the two things that guided her to surpass obstacles along the way. “Gratitude and kindness” make her to get up and be back on track in her journey to success.
A total of 28 scholars have attended the talk and most of them with their parent and guardian.
