TPEF welcomes new scholarship awardees – Batch of 2024

TPEF continues its steadfast commitment to quality education by awarding scholarships to 11 deserving youths from Agutaya, Palawan; Boac, Marinduque; Iligan, Lanao del Norte, San Ildefonso, Bulacan; and Santa Maria, Laguna.

The scholarship awarding ceremonies were held at Concepcion National High School in Agutaya, Palawan, for recipients from rural communities, and at the TORM Philippines office in Makati City for those from seafaring families.

The events were deeply moving, with scholars and their parents’ shedding tears of joy as they expressed gratitude for this life-changing opportunity. Many shared that without the scholarship, pursuing higher education would have been impossible due to the high cost of schooling and the long distance to colleges and universities from their villages. Most families rely on fishing and seaweed farming for their livelihood. Reaching the remote island of Agutaya from Manila requires three days of travel—highlighting the dedication behind this mission.

To prepare scholars and their parents for the academic journey ahead, an orientation workshop on career planning and college life was conducted. The session emphasized making informed career choices and encouraged parents to play an active role in supporting their children’s education.

Through this program, TPEF aims to help students complete their degrees, develop social responsibility, and become catalysts for positive change in their communities. Beyond education, the scholarship opens doors to better opportunities, improved family income, and a brighter future.
