TPEF supports cultural heritage and education in Malita
Supporting people goes beyond academics—it also means honoring their roots and preserving their heritage.
The TORM Philippines Education Foundation (TPEF) recently turned over the Cultural Center for the Living Traditions to Demolok Valley National High School in Malita, Davao Occidental. Along with the new facility, TPEF donated traditional musical instruments such as gongs and gandingan to help sustain and celebrate the rich traditions of the Tagakaulo Tribe.

This initiative directly benefits 798 students and 42 school personnel, giving them a space for cultural performances, learning activities, and community gatherings. More importantly, it strengthens the community’s identity and supports the Department of Education’s Indigenous Peoples Education Program—a vital step in preserving indigenous culture while promoting quality education.
The turnover ceremony gathered community leaders and government representatives, including Atty. Leonor O. Quintayo (NCIP Provincial Officer), tribal elders, and the Tagakaulo Tribal Chieftain. Their presence underscored the value of collaboration in empowering communities and safeguarding cultural heritage.
With this meaningful project, TPEF reaffirms its dual mission: to nurture academic growth while keeping cultural traditions alive for future generations.
