TPEF goes to rural schools not taken by many

Working the way down the hill and hiking along the rice paddies, the TPEF team reached the Betwagan National High School in Sadanga, Mt. Province.  The said school was chosen as one of the testing sites, together with Mariano Matugas Memorial National High School in Del Carmen, Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur and Salcedo National High School in Salcedo, Eastern Samar for the conduct of the scholars’ qualifying examination and interview. Graduating high school students from the town’s 4 public high schools went to the school on November 30, 2013 to take the examination. Prior to the actual activity, TPEF closely coordinated with its partner Dep Ed local official Jacinto Yassan and BNHS school head Gabina Segnaben.

Under its social development initiatives program, it also assisted the partner school as well as the other three public schools, by providing overhead projectors to facilitate ICT instruction and effective teaching learning process.

Conducted every year, the TPEF goes to remote rural areas to search for scholars among the graduating high school and out-of-school youths during the months of August to October.

Located in the highlands of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Sadanga is one of the poorest towns in the province.
