Scholars Alumni Group Holds 1st Outreach in Samar

Themed “Resiliency Over Adversity. Vision of Today, Hope of The Future.”, the outreach was held on April 13 and 14, and joined by 13 individuals composed of scholars, TPEF staff, and other student volunteers. It is the first community outreach project of the Scholars Alumni Association of TPEF (SAA-TPEF) with partner beneficiary, the Kanamukan Day Care Center in Barangay Talolora in Mondragon, Northern Samar.

As jeepneys or four-wheeled vehicles could not pass the narrow bridge going to the community, volunteers use trikes to transport the school items.

The group repainted and decorated the center with educational artworks, and provided learning materials and chairs for the children. They also shared school kits and fruits to the day care children. The alumni group also provided a budget for the improvement of the center’s ceiling, prior to the repainting. “Our day care children will be more excited to study because of their classroom’s colorful drawings. Thank you very much,” the Barangay Captain of Talolora said.

Scholars and other volunteers from Manila, Catbalogan, and Mondragon prepare the walls for repainting.

Around 25 day-care children hoped to benefit from the improved learning center. Current and alumni scholars, staff and like-minded individuals pooled resources to realize the outreach.
